![]() This fall will be five years ago that Sleeping Beauty came to Kalamazoo. In those five years Once Upon A Princess has grown from one performer (myself) to employing nine princess performers and a handful of princes too! We have gone from just me performing at two or three events per month to an average of two to three events per weekend. We have had the pleasure of providing over 330 girls an amazing birthday memory by providing a real princess (or two!) to celebrate in their special day with their friends and family. Our princesses have taken photos and signed autographs for hundreds of children at public events such as Burdick’s Character Breakfasts, Great Lakes Loons Games (where Cinderella has thrown out the first pitch!), and Story Time at the Portage Public Library. We have celebrated the importance of life by hosting Mommy & Me days, and events that have raised over $2000 for Relay for Life. As proud as I am of the part we have played in our performance-supporting community in Kalamazoo and surrounding areas, nothing makes me more proud than being promoted from “princess” to “queen” this past February with the birth of our child, Addie. I feel so blessed and thankful that while I have been transitioning into the role of mommy, Once Upon A Princess has maintained performing at over thirty events so far this year. This would not be possible without the amazing performers I am so grateful to know. These performers have been exclusively selected from a multitude of applicants we have applying to perform with us on a regular basis. The fabulous performers have truly magical singing voices with experience in childcare and/or education. They have gone through an extensive training program with me to assure that my high expectations of how a party should be run is being met when I am unable to attend an event myself. In addition to the training of performers, another change that has taken place in the last year is that an assistant is now sent to each event alongside the performer. Thank you for your loyalty and for including us in your family’s special celebrations these past five years. We look forward to the next five! Fondly, Kathryn Mark your calendars! June 1 our Snow Queen will be making her public debut in Kalamazoo at Burdick's for Breakfast in the Radisson! An announcement will be made with information regarding reserved seats later this week. Please check back on our website, Facebook page or at Burdick's page for a following announcement. We expect ticket sales to sell out in a day, as with our previous events there. This is sure to be a grand event not to be missed! |
